FULCRUM: State Capitalism vs the Internet (2)

Link to Part 1: State Capitalism vs the Internet

The Fulcrum (possibly an acronym) could involve a Master Plan for world domination, already in play, including a list of people embedded at high levels in national governments (like Fitch). It could spoil the plan if revealed. (Maybe Hillary Clinton is behind it – lol!)⋙ The theory is based on the fact that the World Wide Web went live on December 25, 1990 [the day after Reddington disappeared].Earlier in 1990, the Internet was put into the public sphere by the Defense Department, which had developed it. There must have been grumbling about this.

The original pilot script points to Reddington being tech savvy. Ressler says “By 30 he was an intelligence officer in the Army. Made captain. Military Liaison Officer to the NSA.”

Wouldn’t an officer as bright as Reddington have been involved in such a technological development? His Luddite ways may be explained as deriving from an understanding of how dangerous our form of “inverted totalitarianism” has become, how operating in the shadows simply cannot be done online http://bit.ly/1ufN0VK. I know James Spader insists he doesn’t understand technology, but with a 7yo son, he’s going to have to learn…  :-)

I doubt the writers even know about this date thing, but it would be fun if they did.

Countries practicing State Capitalism http://econ.st/11lUfBY%5D are becoming increasingly brazen in their assault on the Internet: China hacked into our NOAA computers last week to keep world leaders from accessing smog reports (1), they’ve kicked out NYT reporters for not following their directions (2). Russia’s setting up its own version of Wikipedia, to be curated, not in the public sphere, but by Russian bureaucrats (3). Our fight over net neutrality pits corporate media interests against public access (4). And the NYT is reporting that the use of surveillance of the public by governmental agencies is much more extensive than previously realized (5). This is just last week! Wow. I mean, this is so freaking – topical!

With or without any Blacklist exposition, it’s pretty clear that by 2017, we will in fact will live in a world of hobbled access to information, greater corporate power over governments, free markets giving way to ‘managed capitalism,’ and trade deals that increasingly trump national sovereignty – a world “run by multinational corporations and criminals” – Red (1:6 Gina Zanetakos).

Wouldn’t it be cool if the “alliance” ran a “dark horse” populist candidate for President in 2016 (to become President in 2017)?

As Saul Bellow taught us, one of the hardest problems of writing modern fiction is that reality outpaces and trumps the writer’s imagination. NYT, Peter Pomerantsev: Russia’s Ideology: There Is No Truth http://nyti.ms/1w111ZN
// 12/11/2014, “The Kremlin’s goal is to control all narratives, so that politics becomes one great scripted reality show. The way it wields power illustrates and reinforces this psychology.”

“When I went to work as a TV producer in Moscow in the early 2000s, I would ask my peers which of the ‘selves’ they grew up with was the ‘real’ them. How did they locate the difference between truth and lies? ‘You just end up living in different realities,’ they would tell me, ‘with multiple truths and different ‘yous.’ ‘ ”

“It’s almost as if you are encouraged to have one identity one moment and the opposite one the next. So you’re always split into little bits, and can never quite commit to changing things.”

“‘Everything is PR,’ my Moscow peers would tell me. This cynicism is useful to the state: When people stopped trusting any institutions or having any values, they could easily be spun into a conspiratorial vision of the world.”

“At the core of this strategy is the idea that there is no such thing as objective truth. This notion allows the Kremlin to replace facts with disinformation.”

“Sadly, this mind-set resonates well in a post-Iraq and post-financial-crisis West increasingly skeptical about its own institutions, where reality-based discourse has already fractured into political partisanship. Conspiracy theories are prevalent on cable networks and radio shows in the United States and among supporters of far-right parties in Europe.”

Wow.
