The Blacklist Declassified

A brief note. I will be setting up a section under Scientific Research called (something like): Faces, Oxytocin and OCD.

For starters, did you know people with OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) have higher levels of an oxytocin-related gene (sometimes called the love gene or bonding gene than normal, not lower? Oxytocin also affects our ability to read faces, something so difficult it has evaded computer-based analysis until – why, until, right about now! I’ll also be including some information on these new computer break-throughs. There are expected to be able to enhance surveillance capabilities (another tie-in, see?). So, this touches not only on James Spader’s work but also on the psychology of those of us who are fascinated by him. Also, why not toss in that my son (the third and youngest) just landed his first major acting part. He has/had OCD. These days he’s mostly compulsive about grades. And food (quinoa, lots of veggies etc).

You know, it’s funny, but I was a lot more free in my writing when I just did it for the WSJ blog (and Dkos before that). I feel more watched, now, though that’s just not the case, as I had 4000 Twitter followers before. I retweet a few things to them now & then, but nothing like before; I’m hoping a resurgence of political enthusiasm grabs me again one of these days, but I can’t even stand having msnbc on now. This blog, and the corresponding Twitter account are brand new, so this is all new for me. I hope this doesn’t evolve into full-blown writer’s block.

ICYMI, there are a lot of new postings in the structural parts of this blog. In particular, check out especially the “Season 1: Evidence” page. It’s an homage to the first season, with excerpts and some photo collages. It was fun to do. BTW, I never blogged before. I’ve been learning a lot! And am certain I must be doing everything wrong.
