So What Happened to the Music?

Last summer, it suddenly became more difficult to embed YouTube videos in my music files – at least the number that I was trying to embed. You likely noticed that I do embed the videos for the main songs, along with the lyrics, at the end of the “full” scripts (as opposed to the “Easy-Search” scripts.

My plan is to redo the music section entirely to link to the songs in the full script files. The downside is it will take longer for the program to take you to the link. The upside is I can provide all the song names and links and which episode they’re in in one file making it easier to scroll through or search.

I also ran into a problem the large Index file. It seems to be balking at the large number of index terms. My plan for that is to break it into separate smaller files, like pulling the list of Blacklisters into a separate file.

This will take time though. Now that the US election is over (‼️‼️‼️) I’ll hopefully be able to keep up and get to these two tasks during the spring hiatus. Right now I’m working on the Storybook, which is my favorite thing to do.

I am behind on everything. The election has torn my family apart. I know this is not unusual. My son is being deployed to Iraq in April. During the hiatus, I hope to catch up.

I was able to solve the problem with videos not showing up in Clues by moving the fan fiction section to a separate post file. Clues has grown to be ungainly. I separated the Writers Room section off last year.

Getting set up for Season 4 is more difficult than I was expecting especially after not having much time over the summer to keep my skill level up. It seems like November 8 will never come.

For some reason, the videos from YouTube stopped embedding. I need to work with WordPress to figure out why this is happening. In the meantime, the links to the videos work, so you can access them that way. Then use your “back” or “>” function to bring you back to where you were.

This reminds me of my friend Fred’s “Two Rules of Programming”:

Rule 1. Nothing Works.
Rule 2. Sometimes some things work, but this is not as true as Rule 1.

To @Daniel_Knauf after Emmy Announcements

I sent a series of tweets you likely missed. Here’s the set.

I’ve watched multiple seasons of Homeland, Downton, House of Cards, gave up on all of them. The Blacklist is so much better.
I should add Game of Thrones. I was turned off by the soft-porn über violence aspects; when they killed Ned, I killed it.
I forgot also – I watched 3 seasons of Mad Men, then realized there was not a single character that intrigued me.
I think I might like Outlander or Fargo, but at this point The Blacklist takes all my time; liked Rome and Vikings, Titanic Blood&Steel. Storytelling.
I like historical stuff & I love the background aspects (science, politics) of The Blacklist; it takes so much work to get it right.
And Spader is phenomenal. I wrote a long piece on the genomics of “the gaze” that he has mastered (GG on SNP rs53576) lol. There’s a science to it.
Cape May is a masterpiece. It got >2X the next highest number of hits on my site and still is frequently on the “Popular Now” list.
Forty percent of the traffic on my site is international approx 180 different countries. The Blacklist is truly loved internationally.

8. Update Index & similar lookups
