When combined with another gene (AA or AG for rs2254298) http://bit.ly/18nPCKM, what results, for males who grew up in non-nurturing early childhood environments, is a higher likelihood that a person will develop psychiatric disorders AND/OR that he will be a risk-taker. Both “genes” or SNPs are located on the Oxytocin molecule. The psychiatric disorders include depression, borderline personality, sociopathy and psychopathy.

¤ better than Season One

The glue that holds this show together is the mysterious relationship between Elizabeth “Liz” Keen and the enigmatic, irreverent Raymond, “Red” Reddington. The second season is better in many ways than the first. The bad guys are more realistic and the plot lines explore the realm of international politics and important domestic issues. The research into the background of the procedural aspects of the show holds up well, making it “educational TV” for an America naive about matters like neurobiological research, human trafficking, the “down” side of capitalism and the dangers of secret international agendas (electronic surveillance, the various threats to national sovereignty and insidious threats to security) that threaten democracy. Red’s values come into better focus as matters from his past turn out to have national and international implications.

I can’t stop looking at James Spader’s face. I’ve noticed I am not alone in this… It’s as though there were 1000 masks, each one capturing *perfectly* an emotion you didn’t even know existed but that you instantly recognize, and he moves flawlessly from one to the next, sometimes donning several in a second. There must be a name for what he does – micro-acting? I think I saw “close camera acting” somewhere. Anyway, he has nailed it. I am riveted.
