🔴 Is TBL’s Med Sci Believable?

🔴 Is The Blacklist’s Medical Science Believable?

September 16, 2015 (Updated October 1, 2015)

I just added this section to the 🔴 Deep Background “page” of this blog. Thinking it would be “lost” otherwise and not noticed, I am also posting it here as a blog entry. I found out that most of the medical science exists or at least appears to be feasible, if anecdotally. My guess is that the show has access to experts in addition to what the writers come up with.

🔴 Why I feature slideshows

🔴 Why I feature slideshows

Technology

I’ve settled upon using slideshows as a preferred form for visual media for this blog for a couple of reasons. First, I tweet a lot. After each show, I tweet screen shots from the show, trying to capture key moments, quotes and major plot points. It’s sort of like a graphic novel or a scrapbook. So I began including a list of these tweets at the end of each annotated script. These naturally included the links to the screenshots resulting in a very klutzy way to recreate the Twitter experience. So I started looking for some more elegant way to do this and discovered YouTube has developed an app for making slideshows out of photos, turning them into you videos. It’s located here:

🔴 Season Two Review

🔴 Review: Season Two of The Blacklist is even

¤ better than Season One

March 10, 2015

The glue that holds this show together is the mysterious relationship between Elizabeth “Liz” Keen and the enigmatic, irreverent Raymond, “Red” Reddington. The second season is better in many ways than the first. The bad guys are more realistic and the plot lines explore the realm of international politics and important domestic issues. The research into the background of the procedural aspects of the show holds up well, making it “educational TV” for an America naive about matters like neurobiological research, human trafficking, the “down” side of capitalism and the dangers of secret international agendas (electronic surveillance, the various threats to national sovereignty and insidious threats to security) that threaten democracy. Red’s values come into better focus as matters from his past turn out to have national and international implications.

2:7 Scimitar: Ratings (11/10/2014)

Just a note that the percent of people giving The Blacklist Season 2 a 5-Star rating on Amazon remains at 83% – exactly the same percent as for Season 1. So, at least in aggregate, the view is still very positive. Most people don’t detect a dropoff in quality. I actually like Season 2 better.

🔴 All Blacklist Scripts

🏵 Below are links to Each Individual Script,* including cast list, lyrics and YouTube videos for songs, photos and Twitter links. “Episode in Tweets” includes links to all the photos (with narration) I post on Twitter.

🏵 Or you can select the “Easy Search” option, which includes all scripts for a season, stripped-down for easy searching.

🏵 Finally, the “Storybook” (Seasons 3, 4 and 5) provides recaps of episodes, based on the scripts themselves, with photos. For Seasons 1 and 2, there are “Highlights” with photos along with selected quotes. In addition, there are slideshows with captions of entire episodes and, for Season 1, of special scenes.

*Exception: There are no individual full scripts for Season 1 (with the exception of the Pilot), as I only began watching the show in Season 2. Instead, the links below take you to the right script in the Easy-Scripts file for Season 1.

Explanation: This file contains just the tags for the episode. To get to the script, just press the link above.

I first set up Season One just as a file for personal use before I dreamed of starting a blog. So I put all the scripts in one file, which eventually became the format of the “Easy Search Scripts.” This was in the summer after the first season, when I binged the season.

Unfortunately, it’s not feasible to pull the episodes apart now. In fact, it’s essentially impossible.

So what I did instead was set up the tags separately, linked to the scripts. If you’ve landed here, you likely used the Search Bar, which is very unpredictable. I hope that someday, WordPress will provide a better one.

In the meantime, consider using the “Tag/Phrase Index for Scripts” instead of the Search Bar. You use it with your Page Search function. It’s basic, but I find it works best for me.
